SEYMOUR TOPPING: discusses his just published “On the Front Lines of the Cold War: An American Correspondent’s Journal from the Chinese Civil War to the Cuban Missile Crisis and Vietnam”. “Top” was always there, covering the Chinese Civil War, the French and U.S. Vietnam Wars, Berlin, Moscow, etc. In his 33 years with The New York Times, he served as chief correspondent in both Moscow and Southeast Asia, foreign editor and managing editor. Upon “retirement,” he became the Administrator of the Pulitzer Prize awards and a Professor at Columbia’s School of Journalism. Come and hear a uniquely informed view on the many facets of the Cold War.
