SEYMOUR TOPPING: discusses his just published “On the Front Lines of the Cold War: An American Correspondent’s Journal from the Chinese Civil War to the Cuban Missile Crisis and Vietnam”.  “Top” was always there, covering the Chinese Civil War, the French and U.S. Vietnam Wars, Berlin, Moscow, etc.  In his 33 years with The New York Times, he served as chief correspondent in both Moscow and Southeast Asia, foreign editor and managing editor. Upon “retirement,” he became the Administrator of the Pulitzer Prize awards and a Professor at Columbia’s School of Journalism.  Come and hear a uniquely informed view on the many facets of the Cold War.

ENTERTAINMENT

DTer COLLEEN McHUGHsinger, comedienne, alumna of the Second City comedy troupe, and Dutch Treater – takes time out from her monthly cabaret entertainment series to celebrate the many shades of St. Patrick’s favorite color: green. Join her to hear songs of envy, money, naivete, and, of course, Ireland. On the menu, appropriately:  the National Arts Club’s traditional corned beef and cabbage.
