CATHERINE WYLER: discusses her father, Wlliam Wyler, celebrated director of Hollywood’s Golden Age and his extraordinary film career. Growing up in Alsace, France, he landed in the wide-open, anything-goes culture of early Hollywood at age twenty. He became Hollywood’s most honored director after John Ford, revered as a perfectionist and winning three Academy Awards. His nine films in the National Film Registry of American film icons are: “Dodsworth,” “Jezebel,” “Wuthering Heights,” “Mrs. Miniver,” “Memphis Belle,” “The Best Years of Our Lives,” “The Heiress,” “Roman Holiday,” and “Ben Hur.”
