DTC Luncheon. Spkr. Catherine Wyler. Ent. - Joyce Breach
Tuesday, March 9, 2010
12:00 PM   120 Mins.

SPEAKER

CATHERINE WYLER:  discusses her father, Wlliam Wyler, celebrated director of Hollywood’s Golden Age and his extraordinary film career.  Growing up in Alsace, France, he landed in the wide-open, anything-goes culture of early Hollywood at age twenty.  He became Hollywood’s most honored director after John Ford, revered as a perfectionist and winning three Academy Awards.  His nine films in the National Film Registry of American film icons are:  “Dodsworth,”  “Jezebel,” “Wuthering Heights,” “Mrs. Miniver,” “Memphis Belle,” “The Best Years of Our Lives,” “The Heiress,” “Roman Holiday,” and “Ben Hur.”

ENTERTAINMENT

JOYCE BREACH sings with “a sound that is plush and comforting, a delivery that defines intimacy,” says author James Gavin.  It’s singing, says The Village Voice, that is “all direct , and goes directly to the heart and soul.”  Joyce draws crowds to supper clubs from New York to San Francisco to London;  performs at New York’s major recital halls, and is a top recording artist.  She’ll be bringing selections from her newest CD, “Odds and Ends.”  At the piano, both on the CD and at Dutch Treat:  DTer Jon Weber.
